HEX 1013 - The Cursed Mine


This location is the target of The Cursed Mine Quest found at the Gleaming Shovel in the Mines.

1.
The entrance to the cave is barricaded and guarded by two miners, the ones that survived the zombie outbreak in the mine. If the PC's are sent here by Berno they will answer any questions they might have and open the barricades so they may enter. If the PC's have not spoken to Berno the miners will encourage them to go do so.
The story they tell is that they all got terrible nightmares when working in the southern tunnel. Dreams of a cut off head in total darkness screaming in agony. One day they found some old ruin buried within the mountain. One brave old miner entered and soon came back saying something had bitten him. Only a couple minutes later he turned into a zombie and attacked his comrades. All of the other miners they locked inside the mine when they barricaded the door. The dreams have not gone away, they just get worse and worse.

2.
Baskets with ore stands here and there along with some mining picks and equipment. There're traces of blood on the floor and there're clear signs of a battle.
The inside of the barricade show signs of claw marks and on the floor lies some torn of human nails.

3.
There are human remains scattered over this floor, the stench is almost unbearable. In one corner a barely living miner sits holding a pickaxe. He is delirious and mumbles things like; "she is alone in the darkness" or "they changed". If left alive this miner will turn into a zombie in 1D4 minutes, no healing will help him.

4.
Four zombies is in this room eating on a corpse. They attack as soon as someone enter the room.

5. 
An empty cave room. In one side of the room there's a hole in the rocks leading up to what looks like an ancient stone wall.  As soon as someone enter this room they will have to make a saving throw vs. spells or pass out for 1D4 minutes. If someone pass out she will experience the dream all the miners spoke about, a cut off head of a woman on an old stone table in a dark room, screaming in agony.

6.
This was once the hallway to this complex, in one corner lies remnants of old stairs leading up to the surface. The walls where ones painted in beautiful colors with motives from the Meh Empire, pyramids, boats and beautiful cities. The pictures ar now faded and dirty.
There is a Shu-Glorr Child in the room, as soon as the PCs enter it runs towards room 7, but not until they've had a good look of it's white eyeless face.

7. 
This room used to the library of the mad mage Isse. It got old shelves on the walls filled with old books and pergaments. The books are in poor shape and wither to pieces if trying to remove them, all but one tome having been spared lying under an old blanket. Its written in the language of the ancient Meh and is quite impossible to read or understand. The Geological Institute of Trice in Turrenco would probably pay 200 gold for it though.

In the room are one zombie and three Sha-Glorr Children, on of the children is the one that just arrived from room 6.

The Sha-Glorr Children always follow a big Sha-Glorr. Killing this Sha-Glorr will reverse the zombie infection and make you you again.

8. 
There's a lot of rubble in this room. A Sha-Glorr Child hides under pieces of an old desk, waiting to bite anyone who pokes around in the room.
Searching the room lets you find an ancient Potion och Cure Light Wounds.

A big stairway leading down to a lower level, room 10. 

10. 
This is what used to be the heart of Isses laboratory. In the middle of the room stand a stone table where the cut of head of Isses wife Airah sits on a silver platter. 
In the room is also a Sha-Glorr that attacks as soon as the PC's enter.

A victim that fail a saving throw against the Sha-Glorrs paralyze spell becomes completely paralyzed for 1D6 rounds.

If the Sha-Glorr is slain anyone who've been bitten by the Sha-Glorr Cildren is immediately cured and free from zombie infection.
Airah will send telepathic images to the PC's of her head being burned. This is her was of asking them to kill her and set her free. If they do not kill her she is worth at least 500 GP if sold in Turrenco. Selling her will however plague you with horrible nightmares until some other kind soul goes ahead and finally puts her to rest.
There are some treasure in the room, apart from the silver platter(60GP) that Airah sits on there are two  bejeweled  goblets worth 150 GP each and a beautiful short sword, the Short Sword of Blink.

Short Sword of Blink
This magical short sword have little eyes carved all along its sharp blad. It grants the bearer the ability to twice a day move up to 20 feet in a blink(free action), like a teleportation spell.
Its worth 5000GP if sold to someone who knows its worth.
